Sorry for being lazy and not posting a blog for so long!
Well, I missed you guys.
Coming to the topic, I don’t have anything against jeans. In fact, if I am clueless about what to wear, the first thing that comes to my mind is jeans and a T-shirt. That’s how classic that combination is. But this summer, don’t you think we should ditch the plain old jeans and try out some easy breezy skirts. There are like, a million things, I love about skirts. But let me tell you why I am a ‘little’ partial to wearing skirts over jeans!
- Skirts are feminine. They make anyone look more attractive. There’s no point in denying that.
- They are more comfortable than wearing jeans in the hot summers. I always imagine myself wearing a skirt (of course, not a jeans) and sitting by the pool or on the beach-side with a cocktail in hand in summers.
- Even the most basic skirts, when styled in the right way, make you look like a million dollars.
- There are literally hundreds of ways to style them. You would never get bored of wearing a skirt.
I know that you are having a lot of questions about styling skirts. What type of skirt to wear for my body type? What to pair it up with? For what occasion, which type of skirt? Worry not my friend, I am here with all the information you need about skirts.
First of all, I am always an advocate of ‘wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in’. But there’s no harm in knowing which kind of clothes suit better according to the body type
If your shoulders are narrow and hips are the widest part of your body, you can flaunt A-line skirts like a boss. A-line skirts also work well for people who have a little extra padding around the tummy. Hey don’t blame our pizzas on weekends now! A-line skirts highlight the narrowest part of the waist and flare out at the hips, minimizing the body width in the bottom, while covering up the mid-section. When it comes to A-line skirts, you can always sport skater skirts for a cute, playful look while you can go for maxi skirts for a more refined look.
Pairing up with:
A-line skirts can be paired up with anything literally, starting from a basic, plain T-shirt to an off-shoulder blouse. In the first picture, I was in Goa. So, I wanted an easy, breezy outfit to go with my vacation mode. So, I paired the red skater skirt with a white off-shoulder blouse. In the second picture, I was going out on a weekend. So, I paired my skater skirt with a full-sleeved T-shirt and boots. How simple, yet pretty is this combo?P
If you have an hourglass shaped body (curvy, well-defined waist), you look the best in pencil skirts or bodycon skirts. They accentuate the curves while smoothing out the thighs.
Pairing it up with:
In the first picture, I have created a formal look by pairing a pencil skirt with a white full sleeve top and black heels. In the second picture, I have paired the bodycon maxi skirt with a halter neck printed, summer top and tucked it in. Doesn’t it give you major summer vibes? For a night look, I paired up the same bodycon skirt with a crop top. To add some glamour, I have put on a bright red lipstick and gold hoop ear rings.
If you are a banana shaped girl (shoulders, waist and hips are almost of the same width), to add some emphasis to the curves, wear form-fitting mini skirts. Also the short hemline will show off your slim legs. Legs for days, huh!?
What I wore?
I wore a co-ordinated set of a comfortable neon drop-shoulder T-shirt with a mini skirt, paired with white sneakers for a sporty look. You can also wear denim mini skirts with tank tops while going out.
Wrap skirts are literally for everyone. They are the best kind of skirts, according to me. You wrap it up and just twirl in it. What’s not to love? They are super attractive.
Pairing it up with:
You can pair them up with a simple tank top or a crop top or a T-shirt. Or if you are looking for a dressier version, you can pair it up with an off-shoulder crop top like I did for my birthday outfit. To add some pop to the outfit, I wore red heels and tassel ear rings. Isn’t it perfect?
